My simplest introduction is this: I’m a San Diego-born, Nashville-based writer.
A little more about me —
I am my happiest self on a slow Sunday morning with coffee in one hand and something to read in the other — a book is preferred, but an article pulled up on my phone is more likely. Though after 5 PM on any other day of the week, that cup of joe I love so much is likely swapped for a glass of pinot that I love even more (*see image above).
I prefer an early bedtime and a morning hike or yoga to a late-night Netflix binge and sleeping in. I make a mean egg scramble and a bowl of guac that could rival your favorite from the local taco joint. I find old doggos more lovable than puppies. Oh, and I love words. So much so that I went and made them my job. By day I’m a copywriter at a marketing company; by night I’m the writer behind everything you’ll read here.
A little more about my job experience —
I’ve been a copywriter for just under five years now, and I can’t imagine a profession that’s more fit for me… unless street taco connoisseur ever became a recognized trade. Until then, though, you can find me in front of a word doc attempting to create something great.
My career in writing began somewhat unexpectedly at a home remodel and design e-commerce company. While there, I wrote hundreds (if not thousands) of descriptions for products that range from an oversized clock you’d hang on the wall above your sofa to an eight-piece dining set you’d feature in your formal dining space, and also wrote short-form content for their weekly shop newsletters. After three-and-a-half years, a promotion, and a cross-country move, I outgrew the tasks associated with my roles there and began seeking a position a bit more challenging. That search led me to where I am now: working for a marketing company in Tennessee where I write onsite at the headquarters of one of their Fortune 500 clients.
So far, no two days here have been the same — one day I’m crafting up a script for a radio ad and the next I’m concepting a tagline for their next seasonal campaign. I’m digging it.
A little more about my website —
On marissa-nicole.com, you have access to my resume, my work portfolio, and a slew of posts I wrote when this site was more of a personal blog than a professional tool. If you can’t find what you’re looking for here, you can head to my LinkedIn or Pinterest profiles for a bit more insight into these other facets of my life.
Happy exploring! I’m so glad you’re here.
