My simplest introduction is this: I’m a San Diego-born, Nashville-based writer.
A little more about me —
I am my happiest self on a slow Sunday morning with coffee in one hand and something to read in the other (a book is preferred, but an article pulled up on my phone is more likely). Though after 5 PM on any other day of the week, that cup of joe I love so much is likely swapped for a glass of pinot that I love even more.
I prefer an early bedtime and morning yoga or a hike to a late-night Netflix binge and sleeping in. I make a mean egg scramble and a bowl of guac that could rival your favorite from the local taco joint. I find old doggos more lovable than puppies. Oh, and I love words. So much so that I went and made them my job. By day I’m a copywriter at a marketing company. By night I’m the writer behind everything you’ll read here.
A little more about my job experience —
I’ve been a copywriter for just over four years now, and I can’t imagine a profession that’s more fit for me — unless street taco connoisseur ever became a recognized trade. Until then, you can find me in front of a word doc attempting to create something great.
My career in writing began small and quite ordinary at a home remodel and design e-commerce company. While there, I wrote descriptions for products that range from an oversized clock you’d hang on your wall to an eight-piece dining set you’d feature in your formal dining space. I wrote for thousands of products like these, as well as a bit of newsletter content. After three and a half years and a promotion, I outgrew the tasks associated with my roles there and began seeking out a position a bit more challenging and meaningful. That search led me to where I am now — working for a marketing company in Tennessee, where I write onsite at the headquarters of one of their Fortune 500 clients.
So far, no two days here have been the same — one day I’m crafting up a script for a radio ad and the next I’m concepting a tagline for their next seasonal campaign. I’m seriously digging it.
A little more about my website —
On marissa-nicole.com, you have access to my resume, my work portfolio, and a slew of posts I wrote when this site was more of a personal blog than a professional tool. Or, head to my LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Girlboss profiles for a bit more insight into those facets of my life.
Happy exploring! I’m so glad you’re here.
